Performance name: CSULB VSA Modern 2017

Performance Choreographer: Jhune Geli, Daniel Le, and Kevin Nguyen

This set isn’t “the Depression” set. Our set and what we were trying to make our audience feel, was about being there for each other. It’s about never giving up on each other. Yes, a piece in the set aims to capture what it feels to be utterly alone: what it feels like when your own thoughts are your worst enemies. That’s true. Yet, the rest of the set defeats this loneliness with the absolute truth that even when you’re at your lowest, whatever that may be, you don’t have to be alone. You can and will have people who love you, even if you push them away, one time or many. You don’t have to be perfect. So be yourself. Be flawed. Accept it. We promise that the people you share a genuine love with will accept you, too.” – Jhune Carlo Geli
