University of Wisconsin-Madison – Isabelle Ngo

VSA Member of the Year Nomination: Isabelle Ngo

Why was this person selected as “Member of the Year” for your organization? What was the criteria to be a recipient of this award?

Isabelle was my External VP for the 2016-2017 year, and she was one of the strongest board members I have ever worked with. Not only did she fulfilled her position description, she went above and beyond when it came to personal outreach. Along with being very involved in VSA UW, she found the time to also be involved regionally and continentally.

Describe the roles the nominee has held in his/her community and how these roles have influenced your organization. Provide examples.

EVP for VSA UW;

on staff for 14th VIA-1, 15th VIA-1, UNAVSA-13, UNAVSA-14, APEX-2;

has attended 2014/2016 UVSA-Midwest Leadership Summit, 13th 14th and 15th Annual VIA-1’s, UNAVSA-12 and 13, MACV and VI, and the 2016 Northwest Summit.

Through these experiences she has been able to bring back an immense amount of knowledge to apply to VSA UW.

What qualities does the nominee have that makes him/her stand out within your organization? Provide examples.

Isabelle is one of the most organized, passionate, and inspired individuals I have met. For all of VSA UW’s events, she was the main contact when collaborating with orgs and was always transparent to our board. Her extent of travel and number of conferences she has attended shows how passionate she is in working with the Vietnamese community.
