Why was this person selected as “Member of the Year” for your organization? What was the criteria to be a recipient of this award?

Val is an Alumni of UMass Lowell VSA who continues to give back to the organization while being involved on the regional and continental level by taking on numerous positions. His outstanding dedication to inspiring others and contributions to his organizations’ successes will carry on to significantly impact those around him.

Describe the roles the nominee has held in his/her community and how these roles have influenced your organization. Provide examples.

Val has had the responsibility of holding the positions of Public Relations and Regional Representative of New England Intercollegiate Vietnamese Student Association, as well as being the Executive Director of VES-3, Marketing Director of VES-2, and Family Leader for UNAVSA-13. In addition, Val was the President, Vice President, and Event Coordinator for the University of Massachusetts Lowell Vietnamese Student Association. During his years of leadership and membership in both NEIVSA and UML VSA, Val has always worked towards developing leaders within the region by personally encouraging and inspiring members who have gone on to taking on greater responsibility in leadership roles. His dedication and vision towards advancing the New England region has led to his election of President.

What qualities does the nominee have that makes him/her stand out within your organization? Provide examples.

Val‘s undeniable presence and unique ideas mark him as an innovator within our community. Also, his organization and reliability in communication, delegation, and transparency within his executive board as well as general members are what has made him known as “Val, our Pal.”
